On July the 4th, 1975, Pastor Tommy Chapman began a 10-day tent revival in Powder Springs at the present site of the Martin's restaurant. The purpose of the revival was the establishment of a church to reach the unchurched of the area. Part of Pastor Chapman's vision was to minister to the total person, physically, intellectually, socially, and spiritually. To minister intellectually, he envisioned a Christian School that would minister from kindergarten through college.

1983

The church, Praise Tabernacle, opened the doors of the Total learning Center with classes K-3 through K-5.

1984

The school was expanded for the 1984-1985 school year to include an elementary school.

1985

The school added the high school, to be known as Praise Academy, utilizing the ACE Curriculum.

1988

With a total of six students receiving their diploma. Roy Barnes, former Governor of Georgia, was our first commencement speaker

1990's

Praise Academy brought about many changes as the school adopted a code of conduct and excellence and began to add sports programs to the school. The school began the accreditation process with ACSI and became a candidate in 1998.

2000's

Praise Academy saw tremendous growth and success. In 2000, the 1st phase of the new main educational building and gymnasium was completed. The school also received accreditation through ACSI in 2002 and accreditation with SACS in 2004. In 2007 additional work on the second phase of the gymnasium began in earnest, on faith and in the belief that 7 classrooms would be opened for student occupation for the 2008/2009 school year.

2010's

The school continued to expand and grow with the addition of 6 new classrooms being added to the 2nd floor of the main building. The following year, the front of the school was remodeled, and a new kitchen and dining hall were added to the lower floor of the building.

Today

Praise Academy’s enrollment is represented by multiple counties, denominations and churches. We have seen graduates go on to college, trade schools, technical colleges, and the military. Our graduates serve in hospitals, in churches, on the mission field, in the classroom, and in harm’s way for our nation to name a few. We continue to work passionately in sending out academically prepared and biblically grounded graduates into a world desperately needing Christ.
