Senior Spotlight

Save “Buzz” Busby first came to Praise in 2011 as a sixth grader. He is the son of Brent and Amanda Busby, and Katy Busby. Since he was young, he has had a love for learning and reading. His commitment to academic excellence and personal achievement have continued to grow throughout the years, allowing him to graduate in the top of his class while actively participating in multiple sports, sometimes simultaneously.

Beyond the classroom, Buzz has been an active member of the National Honor Society (NHS), and when schedules did not conflict with sporting activities, he also participated in the Chess Club. Buzz has been a member of the baseball, basketball and football team each year at Praise. This past season, he was honored to have his hard work and dedication rewarded by being named captain of the football team.

During the spring of his Junior year, Buzz had the honor of being one of the seven selected students with the highest GPA’s (junior class) to represent Praise Academy to test for the Washington Youth Tour (WYT), sponsored by GreyStone Power. He competed against 45 other students from both public and private schools throughout GreyStone’s service area. With one of the five highest scores, Buzz won a delegate spot on the WYT, which was an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. To say that this trip impacted his life is an understatement. Most recently, Buzz received the honor of being nominated for a Positive Athlete Georgia award. Of the 5,400 student nominations, he was among the top seven percent and was named the most positive baseball athlete for the Cobb County region. Amidst his crazy schedule, he also enjoys hunting, fishing, playing his guitar and spending time with his family. Buzz plans to attend Georgia Southwestern in the fall and major in Business Law prior to attending Law school.
